You will already find a wealth of information on the website. As planning is still underway, some dates and details have not yet been finalised and will be added as soon as they become available.

Take a look around—and if you have any questions, we would be delighted to hear from you at scienceonthemove(at)simplyscience.ch. Enquiries are welcome in German, French or Italian.

What is Science on the Move

Launched in 2011, Science on the Move is a biennial, nationwide science competition for upper secondary school classes in Switzerland. The programme promotes scientific curiosity, enthusiasm and teamwork. The competition is open to schools in all regions of Switzerland. Around 4,200 students have participated in the tournament since its launch. The competition is delivered in English, the language of science, to ensure comparability and reach.

The first stage of the competition is dedicated to research, experimental work and documentation of the results. The second stage, a new feature from 2027 onwards, encompasses a visit to a regional company for all classes that have sent a submission, offering students and company employees the opportunity to interact. Only the best classes advance to the third stage, where they prepare a creative stage performance presenting their results and experiences. The winning class is selected by a jury of experts from science, education and industry.

The classes may work on their contributions in their classroom, at school or wherever and whenever they see fit during the course of the competition.
